Jerry Don Wheeler has announced his intent to run for Montgomery County Sheriff. Below is his announcement.
Hello, My name is Jerry Don Wheeler and I am running for Montgomery County Sheriff.
I have been a lifelong resident of Montgomery County since 1966. I am a graduate of Mount Ida High School and a proud parent of a Mount Ida graduate and one Mount Ida student. I am also a United States Army veteran.
My family has a proud history serving the residents of Montgomery County. My dad Jerry Wheeler was an auxiliary deputy for the sheriff’s office and owned METS Ambulance Service. He also was the owner of Wheeler Automotive. I worked for METS Ambulance Service before taking a position as a dispatcher with the Arkansas State Police. In 2008 I joined the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office as a deputy. A position I proudly served in until 2012. I have worked in the private security industry for several years and founded J&J Armed Security in 2013. A business I continue to run today.
As your sheriff I will work to protect and serve the entire community. Montgomery County is a large county, but a small community. I believe its important for local law enforcement to work with the community as well as work for the community. As your sheriff I will do my best to be available to the residents of the county and I will do my best to earn your trust. As your sheriff I will work with other county officials to make Montgomery County as safe as possible.
I would like to ask you to consider choosing me as your new county sheriff in November.
