School Choice deadline May 1

The COVID-19 Pandemic has wreaked havoc on the 2019-20 school year with school closures and graduation exercises in question. With a host of uncertainties on the horizon for the 2020-21 school year students and their parents can still choose the school of their choice by way of the School Choice Act.

Deadline for School Choice applications is May 1 and can be found at all three schools districts in Montgomery County. School closures may have caused confusion regarding the school choice procedure, but all three districts want everyone to know that they are welcome to apply for school choice.

Caddo Hills has school choice applications available at their district office, or the form can be found on their website caddohills.org.

Mount Ida has the school choice application available on their website at mountidaschools.com

Ouachita River School District has school choice applications available at each campus and online at ouachitariversd.org.

School Choice forms can also be found on the Arkansas State Department of Education website at http://dese.ade.arkansas.gov.

Any student may apply for a Public School Choice transfer from the resident district to a district in which s/he does not reside unless one of the districts involved has claimed an exemption from participation in school choice pursuant to an active federal desegregation order.

Students cannot use Public School Choice to transfer to a different school within their resident district.

For more information regarding school choice please visit the state department of education website, or contact any of the three county school districts.
