Mount Ida FFA Farm Management Team wins 8th Annual Arkansas FFA Alumni CDEs

The FFA team of Katelyn Gilbert (Jr.), Mesa Miller (Jr.), & Haley Black (Sr.) placed 1st in Farm Business Management at the Alumni Competition in Hot Springs today. The Mount Ida FFA team brought home first place honors in the Farm Business Management competition held during the 8th Annual Arkansas FFA Alumni CDEs February 15.

The team of Katelyn Gilbert, Haley Black and Mesa Miller finished first, second and fourth in the competition with scores of 329, 310 and 272 respectively.

The competition consists of two sets of exams with the first exam broken into four parts totaling 100 questions and the second consisting of 50 questions in two parts.

The trio was joined by Garrett Campbell the day before at the Colts Classic held in De Queen where they finished in second place with a combined score of 736. Haley Black finished second with a score of 221, Katelyn Gilbert finished third with a score of 205, Garrett Campbell finished sixth with a score of 157 and Mesa Miller finished eighth with a score of 153.

The Agri Mechanics team of Austin Rowland and Ethan Pearce finished 11th in the FFA Alumni CDEs with a score of 496. They finished ninth in the Cold Classic with the help of Seth Breashears. The team turned in a score of 691.

The Forestry Team consisting of Jacob Woodfield, Gracia Huitt, Ian McDowell, Gage Pantel and Katie Miller finished eighth in the Saturday event with a score of 936 and seventh in the Colt Classic with a score of 1013 where they were joined by Blake Wooten.

The Horse Judging Team finished 13th with a score of 712. The team included Alexis Rowland, Bethany Black and Tracy Efird. The trio had a much better showing at the Colt Classic with a third place finish and a score of 491.

The Poultry team finished 17th Saturday with a score of 669. They were Jon Sturch, Aleena Rowland, Clayton Lewis and Jayden Gwinn. The quartet earned an eighth place finish at the Colt Classic with a score of 901.

The Livestock Team consisting of Gracie Summitt, Gracie Gualls, Mikayla Ellison and Calliee Summitt finished 24th Saturday with a score of 543. They did not compete in the Colt Classic.
