MONTGOMERY COUNTY – The Arkansas Department of Health is reporting 43 new cases of COVID-19 in Montgomery County in the last seven days. One additional virus related death has also been reported in that time frame.
Montgomery County is reporting 353 cumulative cases with 312 confirmed cases and 41 probable. The positivity rate for PCR tests in the county is 9.1 percent with Antigen testing at 4.2 percent. There have been a total of 4,133 negative tests administered with 3,102 PCR tests reporting negative and 1,031 Antigen tests reporting negative.
Montgomery County reached a new high of 73 active cases a little over a week ago before dropping to 63 last Monday. This Monday the active cases reported in the county had risen to 70. There were 45 confirmed cases at this time and 25 probable. The confirmed count is down from 54 reported last week, but the probable count is up by six cases.
There has been one additional confirmed death in the past week related to COVID-19, bringing the county’s total to 11 (10 Confirmed, 1 Probable). There have been 272 recoveries (257 Confirmed, 15 Probable) reported in the past week.
Public offices have responded to the high numbers of active cases by closing offices. The Montgomery County Courthouse remains closed to the public and the Mount Ida City Offices have also closed to the public. Persons needing to talk to someone in the county courthouse can call the courthouse for assistance.

The state is reporting 172,042 total COVID-19 cases with 149,175 Confirmed cases and 22,867 Probable cases. There have been 151,248 recoveries reported in the state as of Monday. There were 18,057 active cases in the state (14,235 Confirmed, 3,822 Probable), an increase of just over 1,900 cases since last Monday.
The ADH website was reporting 2,713 virus related deaths in the state (2,485 Confirmed, 228 Probable). Persons age 55 and older account for 91.7 percent of all deaths in the state. Caucasians account for 70.4 percent of deaths with 1,155 deaths occurring in nursing homes.
In comparison, persons ages 25-34 make up the largest demographic to test positive at 19 percent. Persons ages 35-44 are second at 15.3 percent.
Active case counts remain high in all bordering counties with five of the eight neighboring counties reporting over 100 active cases.
While active case numbers continue to drop in Garland county they are still reporting over 400 active cases as of Monday. They had 407 active cases (319 Confirmed, 88 Probable), 4,176 cumulative cases (3,786 Confirmed, 390 Probable) and 117 deaths (111 Confirmed, 6 Probable). They have 3,650 recoveries (3,354 Confirmed, 296 Probable).
Yell County was reporting 169 active cases (149 Confirmed, 20 Probable) and 1,796 cumulative (1,702 Confirmed, 94 Probable). They have reported 35 deaths (32 Confirmed, 3 Probable) and 1,592 recoveries (1,521 Confirmed, 71 Probable).
Hot Spring County was reporting 160 active cases (136 Confirmed, 24 Probable) and 3,031 cumulative (2,900 Confirmed, 131 Probable). They have reported 45 deaths (43 Confirmed, 2 Probable) and 2,826 recoveries (2,721 Confirmed, 105 Probable).
Polk County was reporting 141 active cases (127 Confirmed, 14 Probable) and 936 cumulative (858 Confirmed, 78 Probable). They have reported 18 deaths and 776 recoveries (712 Confirmed, 64 Probable).
Clark County was reporting 140 active cases (124 Confirmed, 16 Probable) and 938 cumulative (809 Confirmed, 129 Probable). They have reported 12 deaths (11 Confirmed, 1 Probable) and 786 recoveries (674 Confirmed, 112 Probable).
Scott County was reporting 64 active cases (58 Confirmed, 6 Probable) and 431 cumulative (349 Confirmed, 82 Probable). They have reported 3 deaths and 364 recoveries (288 Confirmed, 76 Probable).
Pike County and Howard County were both reporting 50 active cases.
Pike County had 47 Confirmed active cases and three Probable cases. They also reported 432 cumulative (392 Confirmed, 40 Probable). They have reported 4 deaths (3 Confirmed, 1 Probable) and 378 recoveries (342 Confirmed, 36 Probable).
Howard County had 18 Confirmed active cases and 32 Probable cases. They also reported 871 cumulative (683 Confirmed, 188 Probable). They have reported 15 deaths and 806 recoveries (650 Confirmed, 156 Probable).
