MENA – The Mount Ida cross country track team got off to a great start last Tuesday with Top 10 finishes in the Junior and Senior Girls Divisions at the Tom Stuthard Stampede in Mena held September 7.
Addison Thew finished 7th in the 2400m race with a time of 13:21.90. Her time was just over a minute off of the winning time set by Laney Wood (freshman) of Mansfield who ran the course in 12:13.50. Chanity Hall (freshman) of Acorn finished second with a time of 12:14.80; Jaden Valdez (8th grade) finished third with a time of 12:45.00; Kinley Martin (7th grade) of Nashville finished fourth with a time of 13:15.10; Katelyn Giddens (8th grade) of Nashville finished fifth with a time of 13:19.50; Jo Jo Dollar (7th grade) of Acorn finished in sixth place with a time of 13:20.90
Peyton Macejewski stepped up to senior high this year after dominating the junior high division last year. She finished third place in the 5000m race with a time of 25:18.30.
Darby Jones of Mansfield (senior) finished in first place with a time of 22:54.40 and Maria Grano (senior) of Waldron finished second with a time of 24:52.50.
The pair are set to run in the Magazine Invitational this week.
