Montgomery County man has been convicted of four felony charges related to his involvement in a sting operation conducted by the FBI.
James Edward Hall, age 51, of Story was indicted May 4, 2021, by a federal grand jury with one count each of attempted production of child pornography, attempted receipt of child pornography and attempted enticement of a minor. A second count of attempted receipt of child pornography was also filed against him last February.
A three day trial was held this march. At the conclusion of the trial the jury found Hall guilty of all charges after just more than two hours of deliberations.
As reported in an article originally published on arkansasonline.com, Hall responded to an online ad on February 26, 2021. This followed with Hall communicating with someone regarding sex acts with children which led to a meeting being set up where Hall was expecting to have sex with his contact’s eight year old daughter.
The article reports that the ad was part of a sting operation being run by the FBI in search of child predators.
The article reports that Hall was conducting a sting operation of his own. Hall claimed to have reported 2,000 internet classifieds in the past. The prosecution pointed out during the trial that Hall never notified authorities of the ad he answered in February 2021.
Hall is set to be sentenced later this year. He could receive as much as 20 years in prison for each of the attempted receipt of child pornography charges, 30 years on the attempted production of child pornography, and life in prison on the one count of attempted enticement of a minor.
